Erman Aytaç, MD, FTBS, FASCRS, FESCP, is a Professor of Surgery at Memorial Healthcare Group, Bahçelievler Hospital, Department of General Surgery, and at Istanbul Arel University Medical School, Türkiye. He is a distinguished gastrointestinal surgeon specializing in gastrointestinal cancers, laparoscopic and robotic surgery, as well as inflammatory bowel diseases. Alongside his medical career, he is also a farmer and the owner of Optimum Agriculture Company, focusing on sustainable farming, livestock, and animal feed production in Tekirdağ, Türkiye. Dr. Aytaç has an extensive academic and clinical background, having served as Professor of Surgery at Acıbadem University Medical School (2015–2025), Chief of General Surgery at Acıbadem University Atakent Hospital (2020–2025), and Director of the Gastrointestinal Oncology Unit at Acıbadem University Atakent Hospital (2023–2025). His training includes a Clinical and Research Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Digestive Disease Institute in the United States (2011–2016), robotic surgery training in Atlanta, Georgia (2015), a residency at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty (2006–2012), and a medical degree from the same institution (2000–2006). He is also an alumnus of Kabataş High School (1996–2000). He has authored more than 375 publications, with over 7,523 citations and an H-index of 41. His research contributions have been recognized with numerous awards, including the Eczacıbaşı Project Grand Prize (2006), Best Oral Presentation at the National Colon Rectum Surgery Congress (2009), and Best Poster Presentation at the American College of Surgeons Research Forum (2014). Dr. Aytaç is actively engaged in professional societies. He is an executive board member and fellow of the European Society of Coloproctology and board-certified fellow of the Turkish Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. He is a board-certified member of the Turkish Surgical Society and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (past member of the International Committee). He also further contributes to international research through the Pelvex Collaborative.
